1. Which Printer to buy?

HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One
Based on the reviews and the description below I think this would be a good printer for each class to use.  I especially liked that it included  Wi-Fi and ethernet networking.  The double sided printing is a great feature if you’re making books or conserving paper.

Bottom Line:
The HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One printer makes it easy to increase productivity thanks to its streamlined user interface. The fax, copy, print, and scanning features boast helpful extras like double-sided printing, wireless connectivity, separate photo trays, and quick-access control panel buttons, all while maintaining lab-quality photos and a low cost to print. We highly recommend this printer to anyone who can benefit from its multi functionality.

2. Scanners
I like scanners.  I use them in the art room when I want to save a child’s creative  work and still give them back the original.  I use it to save their written  work that includes art work so they can bring home the originals to their parents.  I have shared scanned work in and shared it with my colleagues during presentations.  Not all work can be digital due to it’s size so I scan.  I like the idea of scanning patterned paper or wallpaper inot the computer to be used as backgrounds...good idea.

3. Digital Cameras in the Classroom

You could use cameras to:
Tell a story
Create a scavenger hunt
Document the change of a person, place or thing
Create college on a choosen topic
Enhance a research project
Create a power point presentation on any topic

Any of these uses would address the first four IST E standards and if teachers use pictures form a digital camera to identify their students as well as other practices to increase productivity, they have used all five standards.  Students feel empowered when they use a camera to document.

4. Assistive Technology

Text-to-Speech Software
Designed for individuals with reading difficulties. Simultaneously highlights and reading aloud of text...
This can be used in a regular ed. classroom and the students would benefit because their reading skills and rate of reading would increase as they follow along as the text is read.

5. CD-RW vs CD ROM and pen drive
I prefer the CD ROM with the pen drive.  CD’s can scratch and become unusable.  A small pen drive is convenient and stores a lot of data  without the worries of it becoming unreadable through  misuse by a student.

6. Toubleshooting Tips

1.  Make sure the power is on.
2. Check that all cables are attached.
3.  Make sure that the monitor is turned on.
4.  Make sure the key board/mouse is connected to the computer.
5.  If the computer is frozen and it’s a PC use control+ alt.+ delete to bring up the task manager and close the appropriate frozen  non-responding program and/or re-boot the computer.
