“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
Pablo Picasso
It's my task to help the children remember.

My name is Susan Warren and I am an art teacher in Freeport. The school I teach in is an Early Childhood Center and we teach grades PK and K only. I think I have the best job in the world! I have been teaching art for 13 years and before that I was a classroom teacher and taught second grade and Kindergarten. The children at this age are still so excited about everything they experience. They love any and all attention you can give them and thrive on it as well. I bet I get more hugs a day than anyone else I know! Their art work is uninhibited and enthusiastic and it shows in all areas and media. I use the computer to show them various artist and art work. I try to use the Smart Board but I'm still learning how. I like to take art classes on my own when I'm not teaching-it's the only way I can keep myself focused on my own work. I have two children, my daughter is 22 and graduating from undergraduate school -on her way to graduate school and a son, 20, who is finding himself at our local community college. They are the best two things in my life! I like to garden, do yoga, read....but suffice to say-I keep myself busy!
